Equine Medicine and First Aid Course

1. Equine Medicine – 9AM – 12 noon
Under the direction of Dr. Liane Nelson, DVM, participants will learn the uses and effects of medications most commonly found in the daily management of our equine friends.Ìý Participants will also become familiar with the rules regarding medications and their use in competitions, withdrawal times, and how medications are metabolized by the horses system.
2. Equine First Aid – 1PM to 3PM
Dr. Liane Nelson will explain basic and necessary first aid procedures that could someday prove to be life saving for your horses. Recognizing medical emergencies, dealing with the situation, wound dressing and proper bandaging and wrapping techniques as well as choke, colic and other equine related emergencies will be discussed.Ìý This will be a very informative and useful seminar for all involved with horses!
Course Details:
Fee: Course registration fee is $45 per participant for the day. Open to ÑÇÖÞ91ÊÓƵ students, faculty and staff.
